Attorney Background:
Mr. Sears is a Past President of the Colorado Trial Lawyer's Association (1988-1989) and a former two-term member of the American Trial Lawyer's Association (ATLA) Board of Governor's (1990-1996). Mr. Sears is a Past President of the Faculty of Federal Advocates (the trial lawyers who practice in Federal Court) for the United States District Court of Colorado (2002). He is on the faculty and Board of Trustees of the National College of Advocacy and has lectured in over forty states, at national forums, and within Colorado on subjects involving trial skills and tactics, commercial torts and legal ethics. Mr. Sears was named as a fellow to the International Society of Barristers (ISOB) in 2003. He was appointed State Chair of the ISOB for the state of Colorado in 2006 to present, and was elected to the Board of Governors of the ISOB and has served in that position since 2008. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Mr. Sears was named a Super Lawyer by a vote of his peers in Colorado. In 2008 Mr. Sears was named a Fellow to the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society. Mr. Sears is a National Advisory Board Member of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. Mr. Sears' practice is limited to civil litigation, personal injury, class actions, medical and legal malpractice, and grievance defense. Mr. Sears is certified as a Diplomate of Trial Advocacy by the National College of Advocacy, its highest distinction. Mr. Sears holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Sears is a National Advisory Board Member of the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America.
